Country Model School

The Making of Country Model school | Director’s Speech — Dr. Mrs. ABIGAIL S. KARFE

In 2003, the political train brought the family from Bauchi to Abuja. It was a I sojourn that brought us to the reality of the low-income earners in Abuja. The sky rocketing school fees was a point of concern for a village principal that I was.

With a little motivation, I urged the head of the family to get a land to start a school that can take care of the not so wealthy. The following year he got one in Auta-Balefi (Kodape) in Karu Local Government Area. It was a virgin land that cost only his car loan.

Country model schoolHowever, the biggest distraction to takeoff was procrastination and it took us over 10 years before the plan left the ground. When it did in 2016, it was with much grace and anointing. Within the span of three years, we have secured all approvals from local Government to state Government. The greatest score board was the academic feat of approvals within these few years; the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), National Examination Council (NECO) for JSS 3, and that of Nasarawa State Examination. To cap this accomplishments are the successful accreditation of the school with the West African Examination Council (WAEC) and National Examination Council (NECO) for SSS3 in March, 2019.

The quality of staff has never been questioned for we have the best. It’s on record that a PhD and Master’s degree in education are the school administrators.

The students are the testimony of confidence and hardwork. Our greatest effort is that no students goes through country model and remains the same. The greatest joy we have as administrators and staff is the psychological upliftment of our students and even parents. Great consideration is given to the socio-economic situation of our time while counselling and mentoring is given to all students. Above all, every soul is being turned to the cross where hope in life can be found.

In essence, no matter the background of any child, the school instil a certain confidence that he or she can do better. On our records, are children from the clergies, civil servants, business men and women and works of life. The orphans are being counselled while those that have conflict stressed homes are being coached on how to handle situations. I pray that all hands should be on deck to assist these precious ones to achieve their goals.

All staff and administrators must be above board and every child should be shown the way to live life with integrity. Our objective is to have adults with a heart of gold, useful to themselves and ready to serve humanity in whatever capacity they find themselves. So pray along with us.

Psalms 1:1-3
Happy are those who reject the advice of evil people, who do not follow the example of sinners or join those who have no use for God. Instead they find joy in obeying the law of the Lord. And they study it day and night. They are like trees that grow beside a stream, that bear fruit at the right time, and whose leaves do not dry up. They succeed in everything they do.

To raise children with qualitative education to fit into the society as responsible and useful citizens.

To provide an environment that will enable students’ self-confidence as a drive for greater heights in life.
